Default sexist government

i, like many have held a driving licence for many years - tonight i was subject to being stopped by the police and car being checked over (in the dark).

Apparantly the DVLA have no record of my driving licence and i have to produce which i will do.

I, like many have held a passport for many years however i cannot travel under my name.

the reason for these issues

1. im female.
2. i married.

my name has changed as i married, i kept my paper driving licence and my maiden name shows (after all i dont want to pay £17 every 10 years which will go up) paper licence is not illegal. and nor is it a criminal offence not to change your name - only advisory - however this may cause problems and complications for any insurance and obviously police interventions.

im female if i am to change my name on my passport to my married name it will cost me £75, why are females penalised for this? how many men change their name through marriageautolinker.com autolinking image?

blatent sexism from the government

Not a problem with French passport, mine says [maiden name X] followed by [married name Y] so not an issue, I can use either name if I so wish.

So are you saying that the DVLA have you down under your married name?
How did they get that?

Oh yes, have been living here for near on 25 yrs, but retained my French nationality (out of laziness mainly, can't be bothered going throught the whole British citizenship rigmarole, lol), so have to go French consulate to get my passport renewed.

Which name can't you travel under? I know quite a few women with passports in their maiden name and they travel without problem.
