Default Council Towed my car away just to paint lines in the road!!

I recently had my car towed away whilst i was at work for parking on a street that was due to have lines painted on the road. At the time, i was not aware that this was going to be taking place. I have since found out that the local council had tied an A4 sized sheet of paper to a lamp post to inform people of this. But lets be honest, who is going to look at an A4 sized piece of paper attached to a lamp post??

It said on the notice that it was an offence to be loading or waiting in that specific location. As i was parking there all day, i was neither waiting or loading/unloading.

I have since got my car back after having to pay the £140 fee to get it back from the impound yard (£35 for a pcnautolinker.com autolinking image and £105 for it being towed away!!).

Do the council have a right to do this and should the notice of been substantially larger so everyone could read it??

I just wonder if it's worth me going to appeal this and start my representation to try and get my £140 back.

Waiting is parking

The A4 sized notices are merely confirming the temporary TRO Any parking bays in the road should have also had suspended notices on them.

Unless the temporary TRO is defective, then I very much doubt it I'm afraid

Were you parked in a designated bay in a controlled parking zone? If so, the temporary no parking would have been a formal bay suspension, and as Pat says, there should have been big notices in the immediate vicinnity stating the time and location of the suspension. Did you see these? Have you asked the council to confirm if they were up?
