For those who don't know, the Warmfront Scheme is a government sponsored and financed initiative to help people in receipt of certain benefits to have insulation and central heating. It will pay up to £3500 for houses with gas and £6000 for those on oil.

The scheme is administered by EAGA, who subcontract the actual work. Most of the work goes to companies which are subsidiaries of EAGA, thus denying many other contractors the work. Another complaint is that, in the majority of cases, the cost exceeds the grant, so the customer has to make a contribution, sometimes many hundred pounds. This should reduce as the grants have been substantially increased. The prices charged by EAGA are normally considerably higher than an independent installer, so the government is not reaching as many houses as it could do.
