Default VT help! where do i stand

Hi i returned my car to the finance company today as i had payed more than the 1/2

The inspectors checked the car over inside and out and all was good, we went for a drive and after about 3 miles he did a emergency stop to check the brakes, when he went to pull away the car was missfiring and wouldent rev past 4k, so he stopped turned it off and went again all was good, i even drove and was fine for me. No engine lights on or anything.

So we got it back and he plugs in his diagnosis machine, it came back with 14 fault code of which 90% where stored faults from previous occasions. Ive had the car 3 years and its never been on a computer!

Anyway they took the car but told me to that the car was no de-valued and i would have to pay the diffrence from what it should make at auctionautolinker.com autolinking image and what it will make. Its a whole load of crap! He wouldnt wipe the codes or let me go into town and get them off myself. Bear in mind here there was NO ENGINE LIGHTS on at all and this miss only happned that one time. I had just driven the car 400 miles from newcastle to newport!!!!! It wouldn't of got me there if it was missin!!!

Anyway, the way i see it is this

They sent me a letter stating the car must have this, that etc....introducing all these rules. At no point does it say IF there is a problem the car will be subject to a full diagnosis!! Because if that was the case i would have had a diagnosis check before i returned the car. They cant just introduce rules can they?? I could understand it if the car was condstantly missing and has loads of engine lights on and abs etc....but nothing on??

Like i say i have had it 3 years its never happened to me before, and it happened once to this guy and then not again? All they will do is wipe the codes, throw it through the auction and get what it makes THEN try and charge me 100's of pounds for work that didnt need doing that wont get done.

Anyone got any ideas?
